Akshay Talati, a Pharmacist, is a leader with an established track record of over two decades in cosmetics, dermatological and pharmaceutical product development for 20+ distinct brands for three of the largest multinationals, Estée Lauder, Unilever, and L’Oréal. He champions innovation for hundreds of products valued in billions of dollars. He serves and advises in several cosmetic societies and strives to positively influence those who seek guidance through mentoring. Currently, he leads new product development and innovation for Goop, a trending wellness and lifestyle brand, plus serves as a founding member of Skindie, generating authentic beauty intelligence and trends.


Michelle Hines, Ph.D.

2022 President, Society of Cosmetics Chemists and Director of Product Formulation – Mary Kay

Michelle Hines, Ph.D. is the Director of Product Formulation at Mary Kay, Inc. Joining the company in 2005, Dr. Hines leads the Product Formulation team, part of the Research & Development organization. Using cutting edge formulation chemistry and research in skin biology, Dr. Hines and her team deliver the innovative skin care and color products that drive Mary Kay’s product development. With over 25 years of experience in skin science research, she has been awarded over 180 invention patents globally to support the Mary Kay product portfolio around the world. In 2022, she will serve as the 76th President of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists.


Valerie George

Chief Creator – Simply Ingredients

Bio : Valerie George is a cosmetic chemist, science communicator, educator, leader, and avid proponent of transparency in the beauty industry. She most recently worked on the latest research in hair color and hair care at a leading salon professional brand based in Los Angeles, CA. She is a two-time past chair of the California Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, past chair of the Committee on Scientific Affairs for the National Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and a recipient of the California Chapter Merit Award for her services to the Society.
